Southbay Barbershop Responsive Web & Mobile Site

The Challenge: 💡

In this digital age, every successful company needs a web presence. Southbay Barbershop's owners' had realized this as well and contacted me to create one for them. I saw this as an opportunity to work with a clean canvas and was up for the challenge, they had no previous online presence. Their problem was they needed to accept appointments strictly online, due to them being so busy at times they couldn't even answer the phones. Hiring another person just for this position wasn't going to happen in the foreseeable future. I proposed that we handle this thru the website and utilize this marketing tool for more than just an informational website, but also a digital receptionist to take online appointments.

No Online Presence

My Process: 🕵🏻

My first steps are to dig into business requirements and understand the project budget limitations. This helps to strategize the best solution for doing discovery during the research phases. I dove into researching online competitors and found what was working for them and how we could improve upon that; meeting business requirements and by crafting a user-centered design. The client wasn't too technical and needed to be educated along the way. I provided a more visual low-fidelity wireframe to communicate form & function better. This helps to require less client imagination or confusion and drives your design home with stakeholders.

Competitive Research

The Solution: ✍🏻

Based on the research found in the discovery period of the project; I produced a simple to navigate responsive web and mobile site. This wasn't just an informational website, this was a “Digital Receptionist”, as the owners began to call it. The focus of the design was to allow users to schedule an appointment online, so I featured it on the homepage, and made it one of the first CTA's when landing on the website. This allowed the appointment form to be easily accessible for their users online or on mobile.

The Outcome: 🥳

The new site was easy to navigate, visually appealing to its core users. Thru analytics we were able to see that clients were using the appointment form successfully. In the overall result the owners were very thrilled and their new web and mobile application put their business on it's path to leading other barbershops to build their own versions of a “Digital Assistant”. In conclusion, within the first couple of weeks profits went up +100%. Walk-ins weren't as hectic, this helped their scheduling and as a result, they had continous business.
